What is the inner cover for?
The inner cover or encasement is our viscose fire barrier. Viscose is a non-chemical fire barrier made from reconstituted wood pulp. This approach allows us to meet rigorous Federal standards without the use of chemical flame retardants.
Is the inner cover used the same in all mattress constructions?
The material of the inner cover is the same in all mattress constructions, however, the construction varies. In the Mini and Essential Mattresses, the inner cover is sewn into the outer cover. In the Original and Waterproof Mattresses, the inner cover is separate.

Care & Use of the inner cover
Washing inner cover (with attached outer cover):
- unzip and remove from mattress core
- zip cover closed before washing
- machine wash cold, alone, use delicate cycle
- tumble dry thoroughly on low
- do not bleach
If your cover has a separate inner cover, only clean if soiled
- unzip and remove from mattress core
- hand wash or spot clean with cool water as needed
- tumble dry thoroughly on low
- do not bleach
Tip: The inner cover is made with a Viscose material which may develop an odor if allowed to remain damp (like a wool sweater) To refresh, add add baking soda while handwashing
